After teasing the single for nearly a year and a half, Yungblud has finally released ‘Cotton Candy’ – the fourth single from upcoming album WEIRD!
The single is accompanied with a bright, colourful music video featuring Yungblud dressed in eclectic costumes, dancing around extravagant backgrounds. From a sleepover to a leopard themed room the video really has everything, and we see a deep delve into his signature out-there style.
‘Cotton Candy’ describes the troubles of having many relationships while wanting to stick to one, and the music video visually illustrates the dilemma, giving Yungblud many various partners throughout.
Speaking on the single Dominic Harrison (Yungblud) said, “‘Cotton Candy’ is about sexual liberation. To me sex and sexuality is about freedom and the idea that you can to lose yourself in other people of all genders, of all shapes and sizes to find yourself and figure out who you truly are. Sexual interaction should not be shamed, it should be celebrated.”
With a chorus of “I’m losing myself in you and you, and you, and you, and you,” it makes no effort to hide the topic, and helps bring a normally taboo subject into the limelight.
Yungblud’s second album WEIRD! is set to come out on November 13 and sets up the fast rising stars “global digital tour” entitled ‘The Weird Time of Life’.
Due to the ongoing pandemic live music is still heavily restricted, and this is an inspired way around the restrictions – it means fans will still be able to get an experience personalised to their city. Each show will be live-streamed beginning in Manchester on November 16 and concluding in Sydney on December 7.
